‘One title and you’re giving it the big ‘un’ – When Frank Lampard called out Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool bench during testy Premier League fixture

It is always a special occasion when both Liverpool and Everton do battle in the Premier League.

The pair go head-to-head on Saturday at Goodison Park, which is live on talkSPORT where bragging rights on Merseyside are up for grabs.

Lampard and Klopp clashed repeatedly when the former was Chelsea manager

Inside an empty stadium due to the pandemic, the heated words exchanged were very clear but Lampard had calmed down at the end and both coaches pointed to heat of the moment for the unpleasantness

It is not without saying, though, both Frank Lampard and Jurgen Klopp have not seen eye-to-eye in the past.

In particular, one moment that springs to mind is the furious touchline bust up between the pair when Chelsea took on Liverpool at Anfield in July 2020.

The then Bluesmanager was fuming over thedecision to award a free-kick for a foul on Sadio Mane by Mateo Kovacic in
his side’s 5-3 defeat to the Reds
,and it prompted an heated exchange between the two dugouts.

Liverpoolstar Trent Alexander-Arnold scored from the free-kick to make matters even worse for Lampard.

Moments before Alexander-Arnold put the Reds into a 2-0 lead, Lampard could be heard shouting on the touchline: “How is that a foul? There’s no foul there.”

The former

England midfielder became more irate when Klopp told him to ‘calm down’ before turning his attention to the German’s No.2 Pep Lijnders.

Dele Alli to Everton ‘backfired badly’ following Redknapp recommendation to Lampard

While pointing at Lijnders, Lampard said: “It’s not a ffoul, I’m not asking you.’”

A loud ‘hey’ is heard as Lampard replies with ‘foff, you, as well’ to someone from the Liverpool coaching staff.

The argument ends when the current Toffees manager bellows: “Only title you’ve ever won and you’re fing giving it the big un, f off!”

Lampard later played down the touchline fued and congratulated Mane.

Lampard is still looking for his first win of the season at Everton

Liverpool will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins against their neighbours this weekend, after their last-gasp 2-1 victory over Newcastle in mid-week.

Everton, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win of the campaign, and what a confidence booster it would be, if they could conjure up a victory. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League away games against Everton (W3 D8) since a 2-0 loss in October 2010.

Lampard, though, has lost all four of his Premier League meetings with Klopp and his sides have conceded at least two goals each time – 11 in total.

And there is always that ‘Klopp curse’.

Everton vs Liverpool is live on talkSPORT at 12: 30pm on Saturday 3 September
